PARALLEL OF THE CLASSICAL ORDERS
This exercise explored the classical orders according Vignola's treatise, The Five Orders of Architecture. Molding profiles, proportions, and hierarchy were studied in this hand-drafted plate. The orders form a logical system for classical design, rooted in the ideas of post-and-lintel construction and a base, middle, and top. In its pedestal, base, capital, and entablature, each order also has its own character that can be applied to intended effect in a design problem.
